CHANTAL GIRARD TOLAND

DVM, CHPV

Dr. Girard grew up in South Burlington, Vermont, and spent much of her childhood on the beautiful Lake Champlain. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree studying Animal Science and Sociology at the University of Vermont before attending Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, earning her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2018.

Working in the veterinary field since 2008, Dr. Girard has had the honor of supporting families and their pets in many different environments and seasons of life. During her time in veterinary school, Dr. Girard found her purpose in working with senior pets and their families as they navigated the delicate nature of the end-of-life journey. After gaining experience in general practice, Dr. Girard earned her certification as a Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian (CHPV) through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC) and went on to create Honor Veterinary Hospice. Dr. Girard is passionate about providing compassionate end-of-life experiences and empowering families through education and trusted support every step of the way.

Outside of her typical work, Dr. Girard also has a keen interest in international veterinary collaboration and has traveled to Nicaragua and Namibia to learn and aid in veterinary efforts overseas. Her love of exploration has led her to also travel extensively with her husband (both internationally and within the US), experiencing the world through food, language, and outdoor adventures. In her free time, Dr. Girard enjoys creating art of all kinds and spending time with her beloved Pitbull-Boxer, Hooch, and Labrador-mix, Lila.
