Meet Our Veterinarian

Chantal Girard Toland, DVM, CHPV

Working in the veterinary field since 2008, Dr. Girard has had the honor of supporting families and their pets in many different environments and seasons of life. During her time in veterinary school, Dr. Girard found her purpose in working with senior pets and their families as they navigated the delicate nature of the end-of-life journey. After gaining experience in general practice, Dr. Girard earned her certification as a Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian (CHPV) through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC) and went on to create Honor Veterinary Hospice. Dr. Girard is passionate about providing compassionate end-of-life experiences and empowering families through education and trusted support every step of the way.

How Do I Know When It’s Time?

One of the most challenging decisions we will ever have to make is determining when it is time to say goodbye to our beloved pet. Many hope their pet will tell them when they are ready, or that they may pass peacefully in their sleep. Unfortunately, this is not usually the case. Though they can’t use words to tell us how they feel, there are many ways we can observe our pets to help make a decision that is best for them. At Honor Veterinary Hospice, we are here to walk alongside you, to empower and guide you through your pet’s end-of-life journey.
