Quality of Life Consultation
Is she in pain? How will I know when it’s time? We will listen and take a holistic approach to assess your pet’s quality of life (considering all physical, mental, and social factors), working as a team to decide on the most compassionate next steps for your pet.
Families who simply need time and space to address their current quality of life questions can benefit from this visit. A telehealth appointment for quality-of-life consultation involves a video conference with the doctor. You will have the chance to ask your questions and express the unique concerns you and your pet are having during the 45-minute consult. Dr. Girard will listen, observe, and assist you in navigating your concerns during this time, using her expertise as an end-of-life care veterinarian to provide educated and compassionate support. Based on your needs, this support may include an assessment of your pet’s health (physical, mental, social), tools for assessing the quality of life and pain, development of a plan in case of an emergency, addressing of worries surrounding future euthanasia, and discussion of goals/wishes for your pet. It is important to note that this consultation is NOT intended to diagnose or treat your pet but rather centers around decision-making, end-of-life questions, and preserving the human-animal bond.
